Coming from a background of horse-keeping, riding, equine welfare, and competition, we are naturally lovers of all things equine. The American Miniature Mediterranean Donkey however, with its gentle, affectionate nature, and intelligent outlook, has completely won our hearts. Our only regret is that we did not discover them sooner!
Our long-term goal is to breed quality American Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys who exhibit excellent conformation, are true to type, are true to the breed standard, and, just as importantly, who possess wonderful temperaments which endear them to their owners and make them not only excellent show prospects, but much loved and valued family members.
Given the rarity of this breed in Australia, and the scarcity of quality examples of the breed, building a foundation herd of the integrity and standard that we believe is required to do justice to the breed is necessarily going to take us some time. However, we thoroughly enjoy the company of our little ones as the family grows, and we really look forward to sharing the magic of these amazing little characters with others in the future.
'Carinya' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'happy home', and we certainly hope that we are succeeding in providing that for our Equine family!
